EMDR

"The past affects the present even without our being aware of it"

~Francine Shapiro

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy done in the therapy setting that allows people to heal from symptoms and emotional distress from past incidents.  EMDR treatment processes historical traumatic events, current incidents that bring up distress, and future events that will require different responses.

There are a wide range of things that EMDR can address ranging from anxiety, depression, phobias, chronic pain, nightmares and PTSD. Trained EMDR therapists use eye movement, sound, grounding exercises and prompts throughout the session.

EMDR can be the primary treatment used to address something specific or interwoven throughout therapy as needed.
